Updated Cannabis Health Warning Messages

HEALTH CANADA ANNOUNCEMENT: Health Canada has published new Cannabis Health Warning Messages for use on product labels.

These warning messages include:

  1. Part 1 (10 messages): Apply to dried cannabis products and cannabis extracts intended for smoking.
  2. Part 2 (12 messages): Apply to edible cannabis products.
  3. Part 3 (10 messages): Apply to cannabis extract products intended for ingestion.
  4. Part 4 (1 message): Apply to cannabis topical products.
  5. Part 5 (9 messages): Apply to all other cannabis products that do not fall within the description of cannabis products provided in Parts 1 to 4.

Data on commercial cannabis licence applications and licences: 2023 - 2024

HEALTH CANADA ANNOUNCEMENT: Health Canada has published the latest data on licence holders and applications in Canada. This document shows numbers of applicants and licence holders from October 1, 2023 to September 30, 2024.

As of September 30, 2024, there were a total of 916 licence holders and 91 applicants in queue, in Canada.

HEALTH CANADA ANNOUNCEMENT: The Cannabis Data Gathering Program launched in 2023 by Health Canada’s Cannabis Laboratory has published their “Cannabis Data Gathering Program: A comparison of legal and illegal dried cannabis products” today on the Health Canada website.

This document reveals the baseline data on Total THC, Heavy Metals, Mycotoxins, Pesticides, and Microbial contaminants in dried cannabis, both legal and illegal. Click on the link below for access to the final report.

Annual Cannabis Licence Fees – Update 2025 to 2026

HEALTH CANADA ANNOUNCEMENT: Health Canada has published an update on the Cannabis Fees Order that will take effect April 1, 2025. The cannabis fees for licence applications, security clearances and import/export permits will be increasing another 2.7%.

This is comparison to a 4.4% increase which was seen in 2024.

The success of this published data is dependent on the input of various stakeholders in the industry. To facilitate the data collection process, Health Canada has developed a Cannabis Inspection Data Questionnaire and is inviting you to contribute your thoughts and opinions.
